Excellent low level walking including Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest, mountain biking, sculpture trails, swimming, sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. Spend lazy days in rowboats, on the steam yacht Gondola and Coniston's electric launches or discover Ruskin's beautiful home, Brantwood, with arts and craft galleries, gardens and bistro. The village with its pubs, shops and museum which chronicle the record attempts of water speed ace Donald Campbell. Visit the 15thC village of Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter's home at Hilltop. |
