Description:Crosslands is a 17thC farmhouse in the unspoilt valley of Rusland nestled between the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. It is a perfect base of walking and cycling within easy reach of Hawkshead, Grizedale Forest and all the lakeland hills. There are plenty of walks from the farm and as parking is not a problem you can leave your car behind. There are several walks over the farm including one through conservation woodland which has been set up by David. Also here there is a walk to High Dam which is well worth a visit. The Farmhouse is full of original features such as oak beams and slate flags floors. The lounge is comfortably decorated with a large window looking over the garden to the valley. There is an inglenook fireplace with log burner, it is the ideal place to relax in the evenings. The separate dining room has been transformed from the old dairy dating back to 1645. It boasts the original ham hooks and slate cooling slabs. Here you will be served a hearty breakfast while enjoying the view. The bedrooms are well decorated with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee facilities. Rusland room has an en-suite with power shower also a window seat for you to relax and enjoy the view. Fell View has an en suite bathroom, Valley View is a double room with lovely viewacross the valley with private bathroom. and can be let in conjunction with a twin room ideal for families. There are robes provided. There are great views across the garden, fields and to the fell where there are several walks.

Directions:From M6 jct 36, follow the Windermere direction for 3 miles; then turn left onto A590 for Barrow.Follow this road until you reach Newby Bridge then Backbarrow.Just past Backbarrow, there is a steam railway on the right.After about 0.5 miles, there is a crossroads.Take a right turn; at the next T junction, turn right.Follow the signs for Grizedale & Rusland. At the next junction do not go straight on - turn to the left. When you come out of the Rusland Beeches there is a Georgian hall on the left in the distance. Follow the road towards the hall and you will reach a farm with a left turn opposite. Do not turn here. Carry straight on until you reach a bad corner. Take the right turn at the Y junction and go up a little hill. We are the white farmhouse facing you. From Hawkshead, turn right at T junction. Don't take next right to Grizedale but go for a mile and then turn right. Follow road for about 3 miles. Go over a bridge and down the hill. Turn left, go through farm and after a mile turn right at juction. After another mile you will come to the rear of the farm. We are the first house on the left
