| Directions: | By car leave M6 jct 36 follow the A590/A591 for Kendal. Follow signs for south Kendal and enter the one-way system. Follow signs for A685 heading north signposted Tebay and Appleby. At the Duke of Cumberland turn right onto the Appleby Road, A685. After passing Morrisons take the next left turn for Mealbank, Patton and Whinfell. In Mealbank drive over the first bridge and continue right. Drive up and over the hill, 1.5km. At the bottom of the hill, in Patton Bridge, go over the bridge. The road then divides into three. Take the middle road, pass Borrans Farm on the left and then 100 metres further on the road divides into two. Take the left fork and Lapwings is on the left after approximately 400 metres. |
