Built in 1897 of traditional Lakeland stone, Newstead is a fine example of a detached Victorian villa. The house retains many original features including its Victorian verandah, splendid hall and staircase, marble fireplaces, mahogany woodwork and even its serving bells.
The guest house has been stylishly refurbished to a high standard with the extensive use of attractive and colourful designs from the Arts and Crafts, Art Noveau and Gothic movements recalling the splendour of Victorian times. The guest rooms comprise standard UK double-sized beds and larger king and super-king size 4-posters located on the first and second floors. All rooms are en suite with showers.
Newstead guests can relax in comfort in the period guest lounge and enjoy a hearty traditional cooked breakfast or vegetarian alternative in the Victorian styled dining room.
Free off-street parking is provided to the rear of the property monitored by CCTV.
Guests staying with us have optional use of a private leisure club situated some 5 mins drive/3.5miles away at The Low Wood. The club is a pleasant, relaxing, well maintained facility offering an up-to-date Fitness Centre including techno gym, heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, indoor and outdoor heated jet spas, squash and bistro/bar with lake views. Subject to availability passes can be obtained from Newstead for day or evening sessions at a discounted price. Sailing, canoeing, rowing, water skiing and motor boat hire are available at the Water Activities Centre.
Check-in at Newstead is between 16.00 and 21.00. Latest check out at 10.30. Breakfast between 08.30 - 09.15.
Most major credit and debit cards accepted excluding American Express. Card details are required to secure a booking.
Please note that minor building works will take place to the rear of the property between February 2010 and December 2010. However work will be carried out strictly between 09.00 and 17.00 Monday to Friday.
